Pidurangala is a remnant mountain located about a kilometer away from Sigiriya. Even if you go up to Sigiriya or go near it, you can recognize this place very easily because Sigiriya belongs to the lowland plains of Sri Lanka and the only mountain near it is Pidurangala.  Although it is accepted that Sigiriya was built by King Kasyapa, there is also an acceptance that Sigiriya is a residence of the tribes of demons (Ravana's tribe) since thousands of years before that.  There is a reason to say that the history of Pidurangala may be very old;  In the Sigiri paintings, there are the princesses of King Kasyapa's Anthanpura carrying flowers to visit Pidurangala temple.
